๐Ÿง  What Students Learn

  • Foundational coding concepts: variables, loops, functions, logic
  • Building simple programs and games in Python

๐ŸŽฎ Camp Options

Code Foundations (2 days)

A beginner-friendly introduction to real coding using Python and the Godot game engine. Students learn core programming concepts, then apply them by creating their own games. Perfect for first-time coders, students with some Scratch or block-based coding experience, or anyone ready to take their first steps into text-based programming.

Game Builders (2 days)

Continue your coding journey with more challenging Python and Godot projects. Students build larger and more ambitious games while learning new programming techniques and game development skills. Activities are adapted to the experience and interests of each group, making the course suitable for returning CodeWarriors students, students with some Python experience, and older students ready for a faster-paced introduction.

Foundations to Builder (4 days)

The complete four-day CodeWarriors experience. Attend both Code Foundations and Game Builders to progress from Python and Godot fundamentals to creating larger, more ambitious game projects. Ideal for students wanting to make the most of their school holidays while taking their development skills to the next level.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป Who Runs CodeWarriors?

CodeWarriors camps are designed and led by experienced software developers and educators.

Our instructors bring real-world industry experience in software engineering, game development, leadership, and technology education โ€” helping students learn not just coding concepts, but how technology projects are actually built in practice.

Our lead instructors are supported by passionate Assistant Instructors, and by some Senior Student Mentors โ€” students in Years 10โ€“12 who genuinely love coding and game development. If that sounds like you, check our Hiring page to learn more about paid mentoring opportunities with CodeWarriors.

๐Ÿ™‹ FAQ

Do students need coding experience?

Not at all! Our Code Foundations course is designed for complete beginners. We start with the basics and build confidence step by step, so every student can experience the fun of creating something with code.

Should students pack lunch?

No need. We provide lunch and morning tea.
Be sure to let us know in the registration form if your child has any special dietary requirements or allergies.

For BYOD, what kind of device does my child need?

Students can bring a Windows 11 laptop or a Mac โ€” both work great for our coding tools. Unfortunately, we canโ€™t support Chromebooks or iPads as they donโ€™t allow the software we use to be installed.

Please make sure your child can log in to their device using an account with permission to install software โ€” weโ€™ll help them set up what they need on the first day of camp.

Why has the Raspberry Pi Kit price increased?

The Raspberry Pi Foundation and its distributors periodically adjust pricing based on component availability and manufacturing costs. In particular, recent increases in memory pricing have significantly increased the cost of Raspberry Pi 5 devices.

We aim to keep our pricing as close as possible to the actual cost of supplying the kits used in our programs. Our kits include a Raspberry Pi 5, power supply, case, storage, cables, and preconfigured software ready for students to use.

Students are also welcome to use a compatible Raspberry Pi device they already own. Please contact us before the program if you would like to discuss this option.

Can two students share one device?

Yes โ€” for many activities we encourage kids to work in pairs. Friends or siblings are welcome to work together on a single device.

Are you teaching any AI related topics?

In the Game Builders and Foundations to Builder programs we introduce ways to use AI as a tool to support and enhance studentsโ€™ coding โ€” not replace it. Our main focus remains helping students build strong foundations and confidence in their own code.

Can students arrive earlier than 9am?

We'll be there from 8:30am, so students can arrive from 8:30am

Can my child attend only in the mornings or afternoons?

Whilst we don't provide an option for this on the registration or checkout forms, we may be able to support your particular schedule requirement. Contact Us to discuss this requirement.
